Bake-Off Rules, Regulations, Disclaimers

Contest Day: Saturday, June 1st

Contest Location: 3314 FD Road, San Angelo, Texas, 76904 (Old Stillwater location, next to Cain's Cove)

Check-in and Turn in Times:  2 pm on Saturday, June 1st in the Bake-Off tent. Please be prompt.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  1. Any age can enter, both inexperienced and experienced bakers are eligible to enter, but all baked goods must be made in a home kitchen (not store bought). ALL ITEMS MUST BE HOMEMADE.

  2. Contestants may have more than one entry.

  3. Contestants may work individually or with a team. (Prizes will be awarded to one (1) member/team only, NOT everyone.). All baked entries must fit one of the three category descriptions.

    • Cakes: Cakes may be single or multi-layer.

    • Pie: This category is intended for baked pies (fruit, custard, etc.).

  4. All entries are to be submitted as a complete pie, and/or complete cakes. Pre-cut items will be disqualified.

  5. Please do not submit anything that requires refrigeration.

  6. In your entry, you must include each recipe ingredient with a specific flavor, exact measurements or weights, and complete step-by-step preparation instructions.

  7. Your original recipe cannot have been published in any form, including but not limited to publication in cookbooks, magazines, on food blogs or recipe websites unless the recipe features changes considered significant by the judges in their sole and absolute discretion.

  8. Email Recipe to promotions@lonestar-mdx.com. The subject line should read: “BBB BAZAAR BAKE-OFF – Recipe - Participant First and Last name”.

  9. An accurate recipe must be submitted with each entry. Do not tape recipe to bottom of the plate. Place the recipe in a Ziplock bag and bring it with you when you bring the entry. ALL ENTRIES MUST HAVE THE RECIPE ATTACHED OR IT WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.

  10. Please be sure to have all items turned in on time. Late entries will not be accepted.

  11. No mixes allowed. The item must be fully baked and ready to serve.

  12. Participants must be present during a Question/Answer Session with the Judges. Participants will receive their judging time after all entries are submitted to the Bake-off tent.

  13. Four R Broadcasting will provide plates, forks, and napkins for the judges.

  14. Participants should bring their own serving utensils (ex: cake knife, pie server, etc.) All entries are preferred to be submitted on a paper plate or recyclable container. In the case that it is not suitable for this, (ex. baked fruit pies), all containers and utensils used to submit the entry are the responsibility of the entrant. It is the entrant’s responsibility to pick up their container immediately following the announcement of winners.

  15. All containers left afterward will be submitted to the lost and found until the end of the event; at which time, all items not picked up will be thrown away.

  16. Neither the organizers of this event nor any representatives from Four R Broadcasting are in any way responsible for the distribution of your containers.

  17. All entries must meet the requirements of the category entered. Recipes not meeting contest entry criteria will be disqualified

 

JUDGING ENTRIES: (Can be scored up to 30pts.)

 

  1. Each contestant will be assigned a number for judging which you will receive upon turning in the baked goods.

  2. Contestants should not fraternize with the judges.

  3. Participants must be present during a Question/Answer Session with the Judges. (Participants will receive their judging time after all entries are submitted to the Bake-off tent.)

  4. Judges are required to taste test all entries. Each judge will complete a judging sheet which will indicate each entry’s score. Each criterion will require a score of 1 to 10 dependent on that criterion. A combined score will be calculated to indicate the final scoring placement.

  5. No visitors or children in the judging area.

 

Judging Scoring:

Taste (10 pts.)

Appearance (10pts.)

Creativity (10 pts.)

 

TERMS FOR ALL PRIZES

  1. Each Entry will only be scored in a single Category. The Contest Representative will tally all the ballots. The Three (3) Finalists whose Entries have the highest Score in each Category will become Category Finalists. The Category Finalist with the highest Score will be the Potential Category Winner. After the Potential Category Winners are confirmed as Category Winners, The Category Winner whose Entry has the highest score will become the Grand Prize Winner.

  2. At any point in the Contest, in the event of a tied Score, the Entry with the highest score for taste will be declared the winner.

 

Sponsors reserve the right in their sole and absolute discretion to substitute a prize or prize component with a prize of equal or greater value. Prizes are non-transferable and may not be given, bartered, substituted, sold, or exchanged for cash or another prize. All prize details are at Sponsors’ sole discretion. Prizes are awarded “as is” with no warranty or guarantee, either express or implied.

All contestants are expected to be physically present for the announcement and accept their prize at that time. If the contestant or a representative for the contestant is not present, they are automatically disqualified, and the prize will go towards the next selected entry. Finalists will be photographed which may be used for future promotional materials for the bake-off or Four R Broadcasting.

 

GENERAL CONDITIONS

By entering, you agree to release, discharge, indemnify and hold harmless the Sponsors, Radio Station, Land Owners and other participating sponsors, participants and their respective parent companies, subsidiaries, their respective representatives and agents, advertising and promotion agencies, promotion partners and prize suppliers, and all of their respective affiliated companies, employees, officers, directors and shareholders, from and against all claims and damages or liability arising in connection with your participation and/or entry in the Contest and/or your receipt or use of any prize awarded in this Contest or due to any injuries, damages or losses to any person (including death) or property of any kind resulting in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from acceptance, possession, misuse or use of any prize or participation in any Contest-related activity or participation in this Contest.

By submitting your Entry, you accept all Contest rules and agree to be bound by the decisions of the judges, which will be final. Except where prohibited, accepting a prize in the Contest constitutes your consent for Sponsors and their nominees to use your Entry, name, likeness, hometown, state, and any content gathered by Sponsors for promotional purposes in any media without further payment or consideration.

Sponsors are not responsible for any changes or effects caused to the entrant's computer system as a result of submitting electronic entries. If the Contest site fails for any reason any Entry received during that time will be deemed a defective Entry. Entries submitted via any other method, including but not limited to U.S. Postal Service, facsimile or other express delivery services, will NOT be accepted. Sponsors and their promotion agencies are not responsible for phone, network, electronic or computer hardware or software failure, or technical failures of any kind, lost or unavailable network connections, fraud, incomplete, garbled or delayed computer transmissions, whether caused by Sponsors, entrants or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the promotion or by any technical or human error which may occur in the processing of submissions which may damage a user’s system or limit a participant’s ability to participate in the promotion.

Sponsors are not responsible for: (1) any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by entrant, by printing errors or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Contest; (2) technical failures of any kind, including, but not limited, to malfunctions, interruptions, or disconnections in phone lines or network hardware or software; (3) unauthorized human intervention in any aspect of the Contest; (4) printing, typographical, technical, computer, network or human error which may occur in the announcement of the prizes or in any Contest-related matter or materials; or (5) any injury or damage to persons or property which may be caused, directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, from participation in the Contest and/or downloading of any materials related to this Contest. If for any reason an Entry is confirmed to have been erroneously deleted, lost, or otherwise destroyed or corrupted, entrant’s sole remedy is another Entry in the Contest.

Four R Broadcasting may prohibit any individual from participating in the Contest or winning a prize if, in its sole discretion, it determines that said individual is attempting to undermine the legitimate operation of the contest by cheating, hacking, deception, or other unfair practices; violates the Official Rules; or acts in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner at any time during the Contest, or with intent to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other person.

Except where prohibited, you agree that: (1) any and all disputes, claims and causes of action arising out of or connected with the Contest or any prize awarded shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action; (2) any and all claims, judgments and awards shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, including costs associated with entering this Sweepstakes, but in no event attorneys’ fees; and (3) under no circumstances will you be permitted to obtain awards for, and you hereby waive all rights to claim, indirect, punitive, incidental and consequential damages and any other damages, other than for actual out-of-pocket expenses, and any and all rights to have damages multiplied or otherwise increased. All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules, or the rights and obligations of the entrant and Sponsor in connection with the Contest, shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of the State of Texas without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules, which would cause the application of the laws of any jurisdiction other than the State of Texas.

Four R Broadcasting reserves the right to cancel this promotion or any part of this promotion at its sole discretion. This event is a rain or shine event, please prepare for either or.

 

WARNING: Any attempt by any person to deliberately undermine the legitimate operation of the Contest may be a violation of criminal and civil law, and, should such an attempt be made, Four R Broadcasting reserves the right to seek damages from any such person to the fullest extent permitted by law. Four R Broadcastings failure to enforce any term of these Official Rules shall not constitute a waiver of that provision.
