Restaurant Cook-Off Rules, Regulations, Disclaimers

 

Contest Day: Saturday, June 1, 2019

Check-in: 9 am on Friday, May 31, in the Check-In Tent. Please be prompt.

Contest Location:  3314 FD Road, San Angelo, Texas 76904 (Old Stillwater location, next to Cain's Cove)

Disclaimers: There will be NO Water, Electricity, or Sewage. Please make the necessary preparations.

  1. COOKED ON SITE - All meats will be cooked on-site. The preparation and completion (excluding pre-trimming) of any and all meats in the competition is within the confines of the cook-off site and during the time limits designated by the promoter. Pre-trimming competition meat may be removed from the store packaging and pre-trimmed.

 

  1. PERMITS – You are required to obtain and display all necessary permits and/or licenses in order to operate on the event grounds. If you are forced to close by any city/state/government agency for failure to obtain your necessary permits and/or licenses. BBB-Bazaar, Four R Broadcasting or its agents are not liable, and will not refund any fees or deposits.

 

  1. SANITATION - Cooks are to prepare and cook in a sanitary manner as is possible including but not limited to using gloves, washing hands, and avoiding cross-contamination. Cooking conditions are subject to inspection by the Promoter and Head Judge. Infractions identified or witnessed by the Promoter and/or Head Judge shall be immediately addressed and the Team will be subject to disqualification by Head Judge (City Inspector may visit this event.)

 

  1. DOUBLE NUMBER SYSTEM - This system assures a fair competition and is a fundamental part of the competition. Four R Broadcasting requires that two tickets bearing the same number be utilized, one firmly attached to the top of the judging tray in a manner which hides the number and the other ticket easily removed by the Head Cook for retention after signing the Head Cook’s name in front of a representative. Winning numbers will not be revealed until time to announce each place in each category. At that time the secret numbers, attached to the lid of the tray, will be removed and announced. Only lids with tickets will be taken to the awards ceremony with final table numbers.

 

  1. JUDGING TRAY CONTENTS - The Head Judge or designated representative will inspect all trays at the time of turn-in in order to assure compliance with the turn-in criteria. All garnishes and condiments are prohibited, as they do not reflect the true quality of the cooked meat. Meats may be cooked with sauces and/or other liquids, but once the cooking is complete, sauces and/or liquids may not be added once put into the tray. Each tray will include one sheet of foil placed unfolded under the contents of the tray. All three types of meat Chicken, Pork Spare Ribs and Brisket are required to be turned in meat side up. Each turn in the tray will consist of the following events:

RESTAURANT COOKERS TRAYS:

  1. Burgers: three (3) single patties along with three (3) completely made burgers (i.e. Buns, condiments, extras.) Plain patties must be on one side of the tray and the completely made burgers on the other.

  2. BBQ Sandwiches: three (3) completely made sandwiches in judging tray.

 

  1. TURN-IN TIMES

    1. Burger vs. Burger turn in time is 4 pm.

    2. BBQ vs BBQ turn in time is 5 pm.

 

No other categories will be submitted during the IBCA recognized categories schedule and must occur either before or after the IBCA recognized categories. Once this time is set and/or announced at the Head Cooks meeting no change will be made. A turn-in window of ten (10) minutes before and after the set turn-in time will be recognized. Judging trays received after that time will not be accepted for judging. Ten minutes and one second is considered after the set turn-in time.

 

TERMS FOR TRAY DISQUALIFICATION - After the tray has been turned in, any tray found to be in violation of the rules will be disqualified at the discretion of the Head Judge. Disqualified tray numbers will be called out immediately following the category announcements.

 

TERMS FOR ALL PRIZES

Restaurants will be the last to be announced at the award ceremony. Starting with the BBQ Restaurants and then will go on to announce the Burger Restaurants.

Sponsors reserve the right in their sole and absolute discretion to substitute a prize or prize component with a prize of equal or greater value. Prizes are non-transferable and may not be given, bartered, substituted, sold, or exchanged for cash or another prize. All prize details are at the sponsor’s sole discretion. Prizes are awarded “as is” with no warranty or guarantee, either express or implied.

All contestants are expected to be physically present for the announcement and accept their prize at that time. If the contestant or a representative for the contestant is not present, they are automatically disqualified, and the prize will go towards the next selected entry. Finalists will be photographed which may be used for future promotional materials for the bake-off or Four R Broadcasting.

 

EVENT DISQUALIFICATION - Failure to comply with Four R Broadcasting rules can result in a disqualification of the offending team or teams. The penalty will be administered by the head judge. If administered, the head judge will notify the Executive Head Judges and the representative.

 

GENERAL CONDITIONS

By entering, you agree to release, discharge, indemnify and hold harmless the Sponsors, Radio Station, Land Owners and other participating sponsors, participants and their respective parent companies, subsidiaries, their respective representatives and agents, advertising and promotion agencies, promotion partners and prize suppliers, and all of their respective affiliated companies, employees, officers, directors and shareholders, from and against all claims and damages or liability arising in connection with your participation and/or entry in the Contest and/or your receipt or use of any prize awarded in this Contest or due to any injuries, damages or losses to any person (including death) or property of any kind resulting in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from acceptance, possession, misuse or use of any prize or participation in any Contest-related activity or participation in this Contest.

By submitting your Entry, you accept all Contest rules and agree to be bound by the decisions of the judges, which will be final. Except where prohibited, accepting a prize in the Contest constitutes your consent for Sponsors and their nominees to use your Entry, name, likeness, hometown, state, and any content gathered by Sponsors for promotional purposes in any media without further payment or consideration.

Sponsors are not responsible for any changes or effects caused to the entrant's computer system as a result of submitting electronic entries. If the Contest site fails for any reason any Entry received during that time will be deemed a defective Entry. Entries submitted via any other method, including but not limited to U.S. Postal Service, facsimile or other express delivery services, will NOT be accepted. Sponsors and their promotion agencies are not responsible for phone, network, electronic or computer hardware or software failure, or technical failures of any kind, lost or unavailable network connections, fraud, incomplete, garbled or delayed computer transmissions, whether caused by Sponsors, entrants or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the promotion or by any technical or human error which may occur in the processing of submissions which may damage a user’s system or limit a participant’s ability to participate in the promotion.

Sponsors are not responsible for: (1) any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by entrant, by printing errors or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Contest; (2) technical failures of any kind, including, but not limited, to malfunctions, interruptions, or disconnections in phone lines or network hardware or software; (3) unauthorized human intervention in any aspect of the Contest; (4) printing, typographical, technical, computer, network or human error which may occur in the announcement of the prizes or in any Contest-related matter or materials; or (5) any injury or damage to persons or property which may be caused, directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, from participation in the Contest and/or downloading of any materials related to this Contest. If for any reason an Entry is confirmed to have been erroneously deleted, lost, or otherwise destroyed or corrupted, entrant’s sole remedy is another Entry in the Contest.

Four R Broadcasting may prohibit any individual from participating in the Contest or winning a prize if, in its sole discretion, it determines that said individual is attempting to undermine the legitimate operation of the contest by cheating, hacking, deception, or other unfair practices; violates the Official Rules; or acts in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner at any time during the Contest, or with intent to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other person.

Except where prohibited, you agree that: (1) any and all disputes, claims and causes of action arising out of or connected with the Contest or any prize awarded shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action; (2) any and all claims, judgments and awards shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, including costs associated with entering this Sweepstakes, but in no event attorneys’ fees; and (3) under no circumstances will you be permitted to obtain awards for, and you hereby waive all rights to claim, indirect, punitive, incidental and consequential damages and any other damages, other than for actual out-of-pocket expenses, and any and all rights to have damages multiplied or otherwise increased. All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules, or the rights and obligations of the entrant and Sponsor in connection with the Contest, shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of the State of Texas without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules, which would cause the application of the laws of any jurisdiction other than the State of Texas.

Four R Broadcasting reserves the right to cancel this promotion or any part of this promotion at its sole discretion. This event is a rain or shine event, please prepare for either or.

 

WARNING: Any attempt by any person to deliberately undermine the legitimate operation of the Contest may be a violation of criminal and civil law, and, should such an attempt be made, Four R Broadcasting reserves the right to seek damages from any such person to the fullest extent permitted by law. Four R Broadcastings failure to enforce any term of these Official Rules shall not constitute a waiver of that provision.
